What GEO is and why it matters for a travel agency
GEO means optimising content so it is lifted and recommended by AI answer engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini. Unlike classic SEO, where the goal is a click, in GEO the goal is for your answer to be cited directly when someone asks "where to go on holiday in May" or "which agency runs tours in Greece". That requires short, factual sentences, a clear question-and-answer structure and structured data. As holiday planning migrates to AI, agencies that are not extractable become invisible — even if they rank well in Google.
Technical SEO: the foundation visibility is built on
Before content, the agency’s site must be technically healthy. We check and fix: H1 ↔ title ↔ meta description coherence (an important signal for both Google and AI), clean URLs, a sitemap without redirects or noindex pages, self-referential canonical, complete hreflang. We add JSON-LD structured data (Organization, TravelAgency, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList) that can generate rich results and helps AI understand the destinations and services the agency offers.
Content built on the traveller’s intent
Keywords are not guessed — they are researched. We start from the real questions travellers ask (destinations, holiday types, periods, budgets), group them by intent and build a pillar-cluster structure: one main page per destination or tour type, with satellite pages linking to it. For GEO we add dedicated question-and-answer pages, with a short extractable answer in the first lines — exactly the format AI engines prefer when recommending an agency.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
Google uses page experience as a ranking factor, and the Core Web Vitals metrics (LCP, CLS, INP) measure load speed, visual stability and interactivity. A slow site loses both rankings and customers who leave before seeing the offer. We optimise images, load fonts with display:swap, reserve dimensions to avoid layout shifts and preload the main image. We target the green zone, because a fast site ranks and converts better.
